Five sixteen
year old boys in 1966. The same five seventeen
year old boys in 1967. Seven 34 year old boys in 1984. Six 56 year old
boys in 2006. 40 years...... The Monacacy River in Frederick,
Maryland in 1966. The South Branch of the Potomac River in West Virginia
in 1967. The Buffalo National River in northern Arkansas in 1984 and
2006.
Jim Kirch, Davy Davidson, Bob Richardson, Rob Baker (passed away May 31, 2007), Jim Perrin, Greg Winn and Dave Shrum. Jim went to be with the Lord in 1994. He was our good friend and float trip comrade. In his honor (and he served as a good excuse) we met again on the Buffalo in June 2006. The Buffalo is 153 miles long, and meanders through bluffs and rapids before emptying into the White River. At Mile 140.3, nailed to a Sycamore tree is a placque dedicated to Jim from his six friends. Life has not been a conveyor belt for this band of boys. With every gathering, we have advanced our brotherhood of fellowship. When will we be together again? We are never apart.
